The pump feeling or sensation is usually experienced after a set or two of an exercise. This is a result of blood and lactic acid increases in the muscle. To most people it is a good feeling especially bodybuilders because they like the tightness and the enlargement of the muscle caused by the pump.

Individuals sometime think that they are not getting an effective workout because they don't have a pumped sensation. Don't be alarmed if this happens because certain things cause a pump to occur. Lower reps have been known to not pump you up as much as doing higher reps. Even what we eat can effect a pump. Low consumption of carbohydrates can lead to a flat feeling in your muscle preventing a pump.

Regardless if you are experiencing the pump sensation or not, stay focused and concentrated on the muscle groups you are training and remember to maintain strict form while doing your exercises and work to total positive training.
